There are lots of different baby carriers on the market, ranging from cheap to very expensive. So what questions you should be asking yourself before you part with your hard earned cash?
When do you think you’ll use it? Do you think you’d like to keep baby close to you when you are doing jobs around the house? Do you want to use it more than your stroller? Do you travel a lot and want to use it most when you are on the road?
How does it feel? Try it on for size… Is it easy to put on and take off? (Factor in that some look impossible but just take a bit of practice!) Does it feel comfortable? Try to imagine how it will feel with the weight of a growing baby in it. Do you like the look of it?
How many different carrying options does it offer? Good value for money means you can adapt how you use the carrier, especially as your precious cargo grows.

What season will your baby be born? Carriers are now made of lots of different fabrics to suit the seasons, so try to navigate towards the one that will suit the temperature.
Is it safe? Look at the carrier’s construction. Your baby’s weight needs to be supported as it grows and gets heavier.
Can you wash the carrier easily? Babies will chew, dribble, spit up and do leaky poos (occasionally!) so you need to wash it frequently.
What do you think about these ones? Have you bought a carrier already? How’s it worked out for you?
