Infa Secure Grandeur Car Seat Review

The Infa Secure Grandeur Car Seat

Zooming out of the design rooms of Australia’s Infa Secure comes yet another ‘first ever’ car seat in their ever increasing range – the Infa Secure Grandeur. This new, completely unique design combines all the best and most popular features from the entire Infa car seat range into one ultimate car seat.

Infa Grandeur Features

In simple terms, the new Infa Grandeur is a combination of Infa’s 0-8 year Luxi Treo and their 6 month – 8 year Evolve Treo. In addition, it offers extended rear facing (ERF) up until the child is approximately 2.5 years old. All of Infa’s car seat safety features, as well as their ease of use abilities, are included in the new Grandeur, making this the ultimate of all Infa Secure car seats and the first of its kind in Australia.

From Birth – 8 Years

Up until now, the only car seat on the Australian market that could be used from newborn to approximately eight years old was the Infa Secure Luxi Treo (previously caprice).  The new Infa Grandeur Treo is based on the Luxi’s 0-8 year lifetime concept but takes it to a whole new level.

Internal Harness For Life

Five point harnesses are proven to be far safer for restraining a child in a car seat than the vehicles seat belt itself. It wasn’t until 18 months ago that five point internal harnesses to restrain older children in car seats became available. The Infa Evolve broke this boundary and was the first car seat ever to offer five point harnessing up until approximately eight years old. It is used in the forwards facing position for the lifetime of the seat.

The Infa Secure Grandeur Treo has been designed to incorporate the Evolve’s lifetime five point harness feature, up into the booster seat function. The Grandeur of course goes further than the Evolve however, as it offers the five point harness from birth in the rear facing position, which is safer for the child.

Rear Facing For Longer

Studies worldwide have proven that babies and children up until approximately 3-4 years old are far safer in a rear facing car seat in the event of an accident. The Infa Secure Grandeur Treo has the ability to be used in the rear facing position potentially until this age. Although labelled as rear facing up to 30 months or 2.5 years old, this seat is likely to be able to be used well and beyond this age, as it is the seats shoulder height marker that determines when the seat needs to be changed to the forwards facing position.

Super Thin Seat Width

As many have found in the past, those wanting to fit three children across the car’s rear seat have found it difficult to find many car seats that are thin enough to allow this. The Grandeur is designed to achieve this. It’s widest point is only 44cm which makes it when in forward facing mode, the slimmest Type G car seat in Australia. This is achieved however, without reduction of the spacious internal width offered in their Evolve – their first Type G car seat.

Full Body Protection

Infa-Secure use a blow moulded seat shell in all their car seats, that offers 180 degree protection of the child’s organs, which in testing, reduces side impact forces to less than 50% of the requirements specified in the Australian Standard. This Air Cocoon Technology (A.C.T) is of course used in the Infa Secure Grandeur car seat offering protection for front, rear and oblique crash angles.

Increased Head Protection

A new addition to Infa Secure safety is their Secur-Air technology, which now offers the Grandeur’s triple head protection in the event of an accident. This air release mechanism creates a triple layer protection for the childs head.

Easy Headrest and Harness Adjustment

Twist & Lift Technology is a fantastic Infa Secure feature incorporated into the Grandeur design. This makes an adjustment of the headrest and harness height easy and simple with the twist of the wrist with the seat not even having to be taken out of the car.

Special Covers

The new breathable Active Treo Fabric is also used with the Infa Grandeur. This fabric draws moisture away from your child making it a far more comfy trip.
